The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. brings The Princess Grace Irish Library to a worldwide audience

The Craft Irish Whiskey Co.

The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. is proud to announce its support of the Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco. This support has allowed the library, which was inaugurated by Prince Rainier III in 1984, two years after the death of Princess Grace, to bring its collection online.

The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. has honoured the strong links between Monaco and Ireland by sponsoring the Princess Grace Irish Library. This sponsorship has allowed the library to bring their collection online, thereby making it accessible to people from across the world. We were honoured to receive the gratitude of the Trustees and the Director of the Library, as reported by Europe-Cities.

Monaco Tribune notes that the books made accessible by The Craft Irish Whiskey Co.’s sponsorship include those from Princess Grace’s personal collection. Of the 14,000 books in the library, more than 500 belonged to the Irish-born Princess, including rare editions such as A History of Ireland, signed by Éamon de Valera. Then President of Ireland, he offered these works to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III in his Presidential Residence in 1961, during the State Trip.

The library also boasts a collection of more than 1,000 scores of Irish-American music, acquired by Princess Grace in 1977 from Philadelphia resident Michael E. O’Donnell. Covering the period between 1840 and 1940, the lyrics recall the life of Irish immigrants in the United States and each score is illustrated with an image which brings the era to life.

The library is also collaborating with the Atlantic Youth Trust, a new charity that aims to foster the development and cultural integration of young people through sailing in Ireland. The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. was able to celebrate this sponsorship with a charitable event in aid of Atlantic Youth Trust. This benefit dinner included a private tasting of our ultra-rare single malts with Albert II, Prince of Monaco

As our Managing Director, Ian Duignan, shared with Monaco Life “I’m honoured that The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. can support the work of the Princess Grace Irish Library in Monaco. We share a vision to respect and preserve the legacy of our forebears. Similar to the books lining the beautiful library walls, our ultra-rare premium whiskeys draw on Ireland’s illustrious past and traditions, while offering a unique experience as one of unrivalled luxury and perfection. In the same way that we bring an innovative approach to an age-old art, I’m proud that we can contribute to the library’s next step in the digital age.”
