While only a select number of people have been lucky enough to sample The Emerald Isle, the Editor of Elite Traveler is one of them. He’s chosen The Emerald Isle Collection as one of the finest whiskeys he’s sampled this year, amongst others of impeccable pedigree.
As he notes, the demand for fine, rare and limited edition spirits is continuing to grow, with investments in rare bottles offering ‘dizzying returns’. He points out that “new releases from prized distilleries sell out in a flash only to reappear at auction, often selling for more than double the original price”. We’d hazard a guess that he may have had The Devils Keep in mind when he wrote that. Our first release, it sold out in record time, with a bottle selling at auction shortly after for $60,000, a huge increase on the original sale price of €10,000.
Our second release, The Emerald Isle became the most expensive whiskey ever sold when the first bottle was sold at auction, raising $2,000,000 for The Correa Family Foundation. But as he notes, the remaining bottles then sold for in excess of $3,000,000 with just one remaining. He praises The Craft Irish Whiskey Co. founder, Jay Bradley, for having raised the profile of Irish whiskey, noting that a turbulent century had seen production of Irish whiskey plummet. With The Emerald Isle honouring Ireland with the oldest and rarest triple distilled single malt and the first Fabergé Celtic Egg, all eyes are once more on Irish whiskey and not only its potential as an investment, but on the exceptional flavour profiles of the liquid gold produced on the island of Ireland.
